For most mothers, seeing their daughter in a traditional white wedding gown is a sacred, lifelong dream. But for 23-year-old bride Tiffany Byer, tradition was the last thing on her mind.
Tiffany arrived at Kleinfeld Bridal with a wild vision for her wedding day. She wanted a theme dominated by hot pink and bold leopard print.
Her traditional mother, however, was deeply disappointed by her daughter’s eccentric taste. She pleaded with Tiffany to wear white, recalling her childhood sacraments of baptism and holy communion.
“I’m not wearing white on my wedding day,” Tiffany firmly declared. She wanted a statement dress that said she was ready to have fun, starting with a bright pink ballgown.
But when she stepped out in the first pink dress, her mother’s reaction was brutal. “Why are you in shock? It looks like your first bedspread!” her mother laughed in disbelief.
To please her mother, Tiffany agreed to try on a traditional white wedding dress. However, she customized it by adding a loud, wild leopard-print sash around her waist.
Her mother was absolutely horrified by the tacky addition, calling the overall color palette a complete disaster. “I think it would be hideous if you did pink. It’s like a throw up of leopard and pink everywhere!” she groaned.
Realizing that her daughter would never be satisfied with a basic look, the mother finally prepared herself for the worst. Consultant Audrey and Randy Fenoli pulled a stunning pink floral gown that was $600 over Tiffany’s budget.
Priced at $5,600, the gorgeous gown featured delicate pink embroidery that perfectly highlighted Tiffany’s figure. As Randy placed a matching veil on her head, something miraculous happened.
Her mother burst into tears, finally accepting her daughter’s independent spirit. “I can’t control her, and I can’t control the wedding, but it is her,” she cried happily.
Tiffany officially said yes to the pink dress, proving that sometimes, the perfect gown is the one that completely breaks all the rules.
