Finding true love is hard enough, but finding it while starving, covered in mud, and fighting for a million dollars on national television? That’s a true reality TV miracle. When aspiring country singer Whitney walked into Kleinfeld Bridal, she brought one of the most unique love stories the Say Yes to the Dress consultants had ever heard. The bride-to-be met her famously handsome fiancé, Keith Tollison, while competing on the hit CBS reality show Survivor. But while surviving the wilderness was easy for this power couple, surviving the pressure of choosing the perfect wedding dress proved to be a completely different challenge!
From ‘Survivor’ Alliance to Lifelong Romance
Before diving into the tulle and lace, Whitney couldn’t help but gush about her unconventional reality TV showmance. “We met actually on Survivor. On the show, yes. We’ve got one heck of a story,” Whitney proudly told consultant Christiana.
“If you had told me I was gonna find the one on a TV show, I would have said you’re crazy,” she continued. “We made an alliance on day one in the game and here we are today, still in an alliance.”
It’s a testament to their strong bond. As Whitney perfectly summarized, “In that setting, we really saw the worst of each other. So it’s like, if you can fall in love with that, we got it made.” With the ultimate love story secured, the only thing left was to find a dress that matched her star power. The venue was still a debate—torn between a beach wedding or a celebration in Nashville—so Whitney needed a gown versatile enough for both.

The “Safe” vs. The “Smoking Hot” Dilemma
Consultant Christiana and Fashion Director Randy Fenoli immediately knew they needed to put Whitney in something that separated her “country music red carpet” look from her “bridal” look. They started with a breathtaking $4,800 Ramona Keveza gown featuring intricate cotton lace. It was fitted, flared just enough, and struck a beautiful balance between a Nashville aesthetic and a beachy vibe. It was the clear “dress to beat.”
But like any good reality TV episode, there had to be a plot twist. Whitney’s entourage pulled a sweetheart neckline gown that they thought would be a strong contender.
However, when Whitney put it on, the energy in the room completely dropped. “I feel like it’s pretty, but it’s kind of boring,” Whitney confessed. “It’s kind of safe. It’s just a wedding dress. I don’t feel like it’s mine when I put it on.”
Knowing they needed to pivot, the consultants put her in something completely different—a slinky, figure-hugging gown with a dramatic open back.

When the curtains opened, her friends were floored. “Whoa! I kind of love it,” one friend gasped. “I think you’re smoking in it… This is a different girl!”
The dress was undeniably sexy, and it threw Whitney into a complete bridal panic. “Dang it, I do like it. It’s making me have conflicting feelings, which I don’t want to,” she admitted. The reality star was caught in the ultimate bridal dilemma: Does she go with the gown that makes her look like a traditional, glowing bride, or the dress that makes her look like a smoking hot celebrity?
The Final Alliance
To settle the debate, Christiana had Whitney put the original Ramona Keveza lace dress back on to compare the two side-by-side. The moment she stepped back onto the pedestal in the first gown, the room’s energy shifted back to pure romance.

“I mean, I love it. It’s more me,” Whitney realized.
Her entourage wholeheartedly agreed. While the second dress was “severely sexy,” the first dress made her look like a bride. “You lit up when you walked out. You were glowing,” her friends assured her.
With her “alliance” firmly supporting her choice, the Survivor star confidently said “Yes!” to the dress, securing the final piece of her happily-ever-after puzzle.
